Surf meets the city: Citroën unveils the Ami Rip Curl with a brand new digital display!

Citroën Ami Rip Curl 2026

Citroën Ami Rip Curl: surf spirit takes over the city with a new limited edition

Just a few months after the successful launch of the Dark Side and Collection series, Citroën confirms its commitment to dynamically updating its urban mobility range. Today, the brand unveils the Ami Rip Curl, the highly anticipated production version of the concept car introduced last October. This new model represents a significant milestone in the evolution of the mobility object that has already won over tens of thousands of users across Europe.

The success of the Ami Dark Side gives way to the Rip Curl spirit

This latest iteration of the Ami arrives amidst sustained growth for Citroën’s small electric vehicle. The presentation of the Ami Rip Curl completes a lineup that recently benefited from the commercial success of the Dark Side version. The latter found its audience with order volumes reaching up to 400 units per month, proving customers' appetite for versions with a strong personality. By introducing the Rip Curl edition, Citroën continues the path set by these special editions while reactivating an iconic partnership.

Indeed, this is the first time the Rip Curl signature has been applied to a production version of the Ami. This collaboration, which has united the two brands since 2016, takes on a new dimension here by adapting to the codes of micromobility. The goal is clear: to offer a vehicle that embodies freedom of movement and escape—values held dear by surfers—while remaining perfectly suited to the constraints of urban traffic. The Ami Rip Curl does more than just succeed the Dark Side; it brings a visual freshness and a "surfwear" identity that was previously missing from the catalog.

Design and equipment: advanced personalization for the Ami Rip Curl

To stand out from the classic version, the Ami Rip Curl adopts a polished and contrasted aesthetic. The bodywork features a specific shade called "Black Night," a deep black that serves as the base for a bold graphic signature. Personalization is based on two distinct color packs, allowing future owners to choose the vibe that best suits them:

  • Sunrise Version: Bright yellow accents for a sunny and energetic look.

  • Sunset Version: Elegant purple touches for a more mysterious allure.

The stickers, central to the design, are strategically placed on the door sills, rear side windows, and the rear window. they feature a stylized wave pattern, directly referencing the Rip Curl universe. At the front, the brand emblem also adapts to the chosen version, appearing in yellow or white. To enhance its dynamic character, this edition is equipped with a rear roof spoiler and, most notably, exclusive 14-inch white wheels—a detail that ensures immediate recognition in the urban landscape.

The interior is not left behind, featuring accessory kits matched to the chosen exterior color. In the Sunrise version, the dashboard storage boxes, bag hook, and door nets are finished in yellow. For the Sunset version, Citroën opted for grey accessories, creating a more sober but equally high-quality visual harmony. The interior equipment also includes dedicated floor mats, a central separation net, and a smartphone clip to facilitate navigation use.

A technological upgrade and a global partnership

The arrival of the Ami Rip Curl coincides with a major evolution for the entire Ami range. For the first time, the model introduces a new 5.7-inch digital instrument cluster. This screen, located behind the steering wheel, is significantly larger than the previous one and offers superior graphic quality. The color display allows for a smoother reading of essential information such as speed and remaining range, marking a true technological upgrade for the electric mobility object.

Beyond the technical aspects, this collaboration also extends to a line of co-branded merchandising. Fans will be able to purchase a 710 mL insulated bottle (priced at €29.99) or a "Barrel Bag" (€35.99). These accessories can be bought separately or integrated directly into the vehicle order. This global approach strengthens the link between the automotive world and the lifestyle promoted by Rip Curl since 1969.

The launch of this limited edition will be supported by a strong presence at major sporting events. The Ami Rip Curl will be on display at the Rip Curl Nations Trophy in Munich in May 2026, as well as during the various stages of the Rip Curl Gromsearch. This European circuit, which will pass through Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Portugal, and France (in August), will allow younger generations to discover this vehicle—accessible from age 14—in its natural element: between the city and the ocean.

With this new limited edition, Citroën successfully continues to animate its Ami range. This first production collaboration with Rip Curl marks a logical and long-awaited step, sealing the continuation of a historic partnership based on escape and innovation. By offering two distinctive color packs, a modern style, and concrete technological improvements like the new 5.7-inch screen, Citroën provides a tailored response to the needs of soft mobility. Available for order starting April 28, 2026, at a price of €9,290, the Ami Rip Curl has all the ingredients to become a new commercial success in the electric quadricycle market.
