Stellantis has unveiled STLA AutoDrive, its first fully in-house autonomous driving system, which will be available on demand across all its brands in all markets. This innovation marks a significant milestone in the Group's technological evolution and promises to transform the driving experience for users around the world.
STLA AutoDrive: cutting-edge autonomous driving technology.
Developed by Stellantis, this automated driving technology is ready for use. STLA AutoDrive enables autonomous driving without driver supervision (SAE Level 3) at a maximum speed of 60 km/h, even at night and in bad weather. For higher speeds, the system also offers Level 2 automation, including adaptive cruise control and lane centering. On motorways, an advanced Level 2+ function allows the driver to take their hands off the wheel.
STLA AutoDrive is designed to evolve with the ability to drive at higher speeds, up to 95 km/h, as well as off-road capabilities. Ned Curic, chief engineering and technology officer at Stellantis, said: "Helping drivers optimise their time is a priority. By taking over routine driving tasks, STLA AutoDrive will enrich the driving experience and make time behind the wheel more efficient and enjoyable".
The system is designed for intuitive use: when traffic and environmental conditions are favourable, the driver is notified that STLA AutoDrive is available. Once activated by pressing a button, the system takes control, maintaining safe distances, adjusting speed and seamlessly managing steering and braking according to the flow of traffic.
Available now for all brands and markets.
STLA AutoDrive is a key pillar of Stellantis' technology strategy, alongside STLA Brain and STLA Smart Cockpit, to advance vehicle intelligence, automation and user experience. Designed for intuitive use, it can be deployed across all markets and Stellantis brands, ensuring seamless implementation in line with business strategies and market demand.
The system is also connected to the cloud, enabling continuous improvement through real-time data updates for optimised performance. STLA AutoDrive is compliant with regulations in relevant markets and requires drivers to remain seated, buckled up and ready to take back control if the situation requires it. It also complies with regional driving laws, including restrictions on phone use.
With the launch of STLA AutoDrive, Stellantis is demonstrating its ability to innovate and offer driver assistance systems developed in-house. This will allow it to join the major groups in terms of innovation. This innovation redefines mobility by making driving smarter, more comfortable and more intuitive for all users.
