If 2024 was a quiet year for DS, 2025 will be very different, as the French premium brand will be offering several new models, starting with the new N°8, which will go on sale in the first half of the year. DS is also working on another new model: the facelifted DS 4, unveiled for the first time in a Stellantis car park.
Launched in 2021, the second generation DS 4 will be halfway through its career and will therefore benefit from a facelift that will bring it aesthetic developments, particularly at the front and rear, but also on the mechanical level with the appearance of a new electric version.
A modernised front end
This facelift, seen for the first time, allows us to discover how the DS compact sedan will evolve over the coming months, even if it is heavily camouflaged. The style of the DS 4 should therefore evolve significantly, with a completely modified front bumper and new rear lights that will change the car's appearance.
The front end has only been modified at the bumper level, which should adopt the style proposed by the new N°8, namely a thin black strip connecting the headlights, whose design seems to be identical to the current version. The grille has been revised to adopt a design close to that of the brand's new large electric saloon, of which we seem to see the vertical bars on the N°8 versions with screen. Unless the latter is reserved for the electric versions, version that seems to be present in the photos, I would not dare to say that the DS 4 could offer such a screen.
If the headlamps are not changed, the LED bars underneath should take on the design of those on the N°8 and extend well down into the bumper, visually widening the future DS 4.
Small changes at the rear, but important.
These first photos also allow us to see the changes that DS has made to the rear of the redesigned DS 4. The changes should be quite minor, since only the design of the lights seems to have been completely reworked to adopt thin bars and further reduce the size of the lights so that they blend in with the black strip on the tailgate, which could see a slight evolution by adopting the DS Automobiles monogram on its width.
The lights, much thinner than at present, will therefore allow the rear of the DS 4 to be redesigned at a lower cost, with the bumper changing very little. In fact, on these first images, the lower part of the bumper is identical to the current version, only the fake chrome exhausts have disappeared, but the upper part seems to receive a body fold already present on the tailgate. The latter, combined with the much thinner lights, should change the appearance of the rear end and visually widen the car.
In conclusion, these first photos show that the restyled DS is undergoing a nice evolution, especially in terms of the front end, which brings it closer to the style of the No. 8. The rear will be more subtle, with new lights. The restyling will also be the opportunity for DS to offer a new electric version whose autonomy could reach around 450 km, while the interior should also evolve without major upheavals. There are only a few months left to discover this restyling, which will be the second new DS for 2025, while waiting for the presentation of the new DS 7 at the end of the year.
