Citroën a major electric player in Spain

Citroën C4 leads its segment in Spain

Citroën offers an increasingly wide range of electrified vehicles covering almost all segments, from small city cars with friends to commercial vehicles, all of which are available in a 100% electric version. This range is enabling the brand to record strong sales growth in Spain and to be on the podium in terms of sales of electric vehicles.

Citroën ended the first half of the year in third place on the overall electric vehicle market with a market share of 7.9% and 2,284 registrations, an increase of 122% compared to the first six months of last year. With 826 registrations in the first six months, the Citroën ë-C4 from Madrid achieved a market share of 3.2%.

The Citroën Ami is the market leader for electric quadricycles with 338 registrations and a market share of 92.4%. The brand's commercial vehicles have shone on the electric market thanks to the ë-Berlingo, which is the leader in this market so far this year with 1,317 registrations, 579% more than in the same period last year, and a share of 26.5%.

On the world market, between January and June, Citroën recorded 31,867 registrations of cars and vans on the total market (combustion + electrified), giving it a 5.5% share of the total market, still far from the 7% target.

The Citroën C4, the brand's best-selling model so far this year, is the leader among C-segment saloons with 7,156 registrations. In the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) category, the Citroën C5 Aircross Plug-In Hybrid closes the first half of the year with 1,076 registrations and a share of 3.4%.

In commercial vehicles, the Citroën Berlingo is the best-selling model in Spain so far this year with 5,567 registrations and a 21% share of registrations.

In conclusion, Citroën remains an important brand in the Spanish car market, and one that is succeeding in the electric car market, which is still relatively weak in Spain. The brand has several models at the top of their respective segments, such as the C4, Berlingo and Ami, not to mention the C5 Aircross, which is the leader in sales of plug-in hybrids. These good performances are reassuring and allow us to look to the future with optimism, with the forthcoming launch of the new C3 and C3 Aircross, which will also be available in an electric version and which, thanks to their affordable price, should contribute to Citroën's growth in Spain.
