Citroën: Success in Spain with the C3 leading and a solid overall performance

The third generation of Citroën C3 in red

If Citroën is experiencing some difficulties in France, the brand has been performing well in Spain since the beginning of the year. In particular, Citroën had a particularly successful month of May on the Spanish market, with solid results across the range and a remarkable performance by the Citroën C3.

Continued success for Citroën on the Spanish market

The undisputed star of the Spanish market, the Citroën C3, took first place in the best-selling passenger cars ranking in May with 2,823 registrations. This exceptional performance represents a 6.6% share of the B segment and confirms the C3's position as a benchmark for reliability, efficiency and agility in a demanding Spanish automotive market.

In addition to the performance of the C3, Citroën consolidated its position in the top 5 of the overall market (passenger cars + commercial vehicles) in May, with 6,494 registrations and a market share of 5.6%.This performance is part of a growth trend for the brand, which recorded an increase of 12% over the first five months of 2024, with 28,295 units registered.

In the C-segment sedan category, the Citroën C4 established itself as the leader between January and May with 4,777 units registered. This model has been particularly successful in the corporate sales channel and is on the podium for private sales. Sales of the Citroën C3 and C4, as well as the rest of the Citroën range, enabled Citroën to consolidate its position in the top 5 on the Spanish market.

Success of Citroën commercial vehicles

Citroën is also a major player in the commercial vehicle market: in the first five months of the year, the brand led the segment with a market share of 15.9%, thanks to a complete range adapted to the needs of fleets, companies and professionals.

In terms of commercial vehicle sales, Citroën recorded growth of 23% compared to the first five months of last year, with a total of 7,895 units registered and a market share of 11.3%.This success is due in particular to the remarkable performance of the Berlingo, the second most registered commercial vehicle in May with 899 units (thermal and electric versions), an increase of 55% compared to May 2023. Sales of the Jumpy rose by 75.5% over the same period and those of the Jumper by 19.8%.

Citroën is also continuing its offensive on the electric quadricycle market with the Ami, which is the leader in its category with 199 registrations since the beginning of the year and the brand plans to renew its Ami range in the coming months.

In conclusion, Citroën is showing a solid and dynamic performance on the Spanish market, with notable successes across its range, particularly for the C3, even if May's performance is exceptional. However, Citroën can be proud of its strength in the VP range, but also in the Utility range, where it is the sales leader in the electric utility market.
